for God's Direction in our lives and He has answered us in more than one area. We feel that our work that we were sent here for was not able to be completed in the three month time span we were to be here. So we began to pray that if God wanted us to stay he would provide jobs and housing. We were planning on comming back to Texas and the Sunday before school started on Monday Jennifer was offered a teaching job as a Intensive Special Education Aid here in Kiana. I am working as a substitute teacher and have been able to work even more with the kids here in Kiana. Tomorrow we will be starting our first ever home group in the house of one of our new converts and we are extremely excited about it. Pray for us as we prepare for the winter and desire to see God work in the lives of the Inupiaq people of the northwest arctic of Alaska.
We love our new home. It is a quaint little cabin out of town in the woods. We are very careful to watch out for bears and other wild animals around and most of the time I carry my little 44 magnum pistol as i was advised by most in the village to do. We have been blessed to get a oil stove from John Forrester in Kotzebue (The Pastor of First Baptist Church in Kotzebue) which should keep Jennifer plenty warm on those chilly -50 degree winter nights). One of the catches is that we dont have any running water in our cabin. Yes, we have gotten very good at taking baths out of a bucket and we have a fully functional, five star outhouse which I will post a picture of later. In the winter we have what the people here call a honey bucket. Basically it is a five gallon bucket with a plastic bag in it to catch the "unuk" I am guessing you understand this word. Ha, Ha, Ha! Anyway God has blessed us tremndously and we are excited to be the missionaries of the Top O' Texas Baptist Assocation in the Arctic of Alaska. We love you guys and look forward to hearing from you soon.

Zack Greer...I have been looking for you again since we stopped talking a few months after you got married. I found you on facebook and want to re-connect and catch up on old times. Maybe if I get the chance to go to the rigs there in Alaska for my parents job I can get a chance to meet up with you. I like the place. i just don't think I could handle the -50 degree nights and the 5 star out house. Well I hope to hear from you.
I would love to reconnect and it is definately good to hear from you. I will get on facebook and check it out. We dont know about the winter temps either but I am sure God will take care of us. It is GREAT to hea rfrom you. How is the family? Let me know.
The family is great. I am right now just tryng to get back in line with God. I have had a rough few years and he is convicting me right now. Once we get back connected on facebook we need to keep in touch. If I do not get the chance to get up to Alaska one of these days maybe when or if you get back to Texas we can meet up some how.
That sounds great. We dont exactely know where we are going to be in the next year. But lets stay in touch. If you come to Alaska where would you be? Let me know. See ya man!
I would love to stay in touch. Wish we would have been able to get together when you guys lived in Ft. Worth. As for where in Alaska I am not sure. Right now we have 2 rigs on the west part of Alaska but we are or should be getting 2 more but not sure where exactly. If it comes up and I am going I will let you know for sure.
I talked to my dad and he said the Rig that we have safety people on is about 20 miles from where you are located. So if I get a chance to come up to see the rig I will let you know maybe we can meet up.
Awww...we'll miss you guys though! God bless! -Sam
Sure do miss you two! Especially as I am writing this from Texas!!! Should be in Athens tomorrow since Ike kept us out of the area today.
Love you guys!!!
Vicki and Ed, Jennifer and I sure do miss you guys too. Say hello to everyone from Athens for me. Tell everyone that all is well in Kiana and if they ever want to talk to us email or call, we are fixing to get our own phone at the cabin. We are busy getting our house ready for this winter we keep hearing about and man is it getting dark quick. But I dont have to tell you that. Anyway the kids sure do miss you and during prayer requests yall names are always on the list, the kids make sure of it. Movie nights have been good. We had about 27 the first friday and 20 at the second. You should call sometime and well put you on speaker phone. It is here at Baptist. So dont worry well do our best to take care of them. Proubably not as good as yall, but we love them just as much. Have a good one and stay in touch.
